Osford MC – Lotusbits Carfax Stages rally

Message from Oxford Motor Club

With only 6 weeks to go we are still taking entries for Oxford Motor Clubs 30th Lotusbits Carfax Stages Rally at Throckmorton Airfield, nr Pershore, Worcester on Saturday, August 8th. A tarmac, single venue National B rally, the event is a round of the ACSMC, ASWMC, CMSG and FMP Rally Championships and is again supported by our sponsor Lotusbits.com.

We are offering over 50 stages miles for only £245.00.

This will be our second running at Throckmorton Airfield and following last year’s eventful but successful and enjoyable first rally where we experienced such a wide variation in the weather with one of the wettest mornings of the year and then bright sunshine for the afternoon which gave the crews some interesting tyre choices, we have listened to the feedback from competitors, landowners and local residents.

We have carried out some restoration of the airfield surface which broke up and have respected the noise concerns of the landowners and residents and moved the event to a Saturday – the early Carfax rallies having run on Saturdays way back in the 1980s

In size, the airfield is similar to Down Ampney, but the runways and perimeter tracks are still at their full operational width, rather like Abingdon. The surfaces are 50% good concrete and 50% asphalt (of good to reasonable quality) so we will be looking to set out our usual enjoyable flowing type of stages and to run the event with the usual Oxford Motor Club efficiency to give competitors plenty of opportunity to enjoy the stages.

Kind Regards

Shirley Blackwell
