ACSMC AUTOSOLO CHAMPIONSHIP – Update after finmere, round 8
Ahead of the event Steve Conner spent Saturday night navigating Ben Griffin in his Peugeot 106 round the tests of the Bath MC Targa in the Dark. A few hours sleep later Steve was back in the right hand seat driving his Mazda MX5 round the slippery tests of the Oxford MC Boanerges Autosolo at Finmere.
There were 19 other entrants in Steve’s class and by the end of the day Steve’s Autosolo skills were evident with a fine class win,15.8 championship points and a good lead in the overall championship. That lead is over the 2020 champion, Jamie Yapp, who had more of a fraught day in his Clio 172 Cup cap with the car going into safe mode on 3 of his runs. However, he still was quick enough on his other runs to be the overall winner and collect 14.8 championship points (there being not so many entrants in Class B).
Well done to all the other 11 championship entrants for getting round the tests which were open, but tight in places!
The latest Championship Points table is here.
There was a possibility that Southern CC could run an event on the 14th November but that is not possible for them as a proposed event will be on the 6th November at the Ashford Cattle Market and co-promoted with Sevenoaks &DMC. With such a late change of date it will not be a round of this year’s championship.
So, the final round of the 2021 ACSMC Autosolo championship will be on the 28th November at Brands Hatch, run by Sevenoaks & DMC. Regs are due to be out towards the beginning of November and will be circulated to all entrants. There are still quite a few awards to be decided (down to 3rd in Class for B & D and 2nd for A).
Hope to see many of you at Brands,
Cheers
Peter
